Nonsampling errors describe reasons why
our sample results may not reflect the actual population results for reasons
other than bad sampling techniques.
Examples of sources of nonsampling errors
include:
·
Wording
of a question can make us respond to that question differently.
·
Order
of questions asked to a respondent can influence the way they respond to the
question.
·
“Social
desirability” can influence how one responds to a question. This can be
impacted by how the question is worded, who is asking the question, or even the
demeanor of the interviewer.
·
Sometimes
the type of question asked might cause a respondent to answer untruthfully. If your truthful answer incriminates you morally or under the
law, you may just lie when answering the question.
