Step 2: Design a study and collect data
(a) In your report (now or later - you may want to complete the computer output portions of this lab first), write a paragraph (not just a listing of terms) summarizing how the data were collected for this study. Be sure to (in context):
- identify the observational units,
- identify the two variables in this study and classify their roles as explanatory or response variable, and classify their types as quantitative or explanatory,
- identify (with justification) the type of study (observational or experimental),
- describe the type(s) of randomness used (random assignment and/or random sampling or neither),
- describe the sample used in the study, and
- state the sample size, including the number of individuals in each explanatory variable group.
